What is World Liberty Financial?
World Liberty Financial was announced in 2024 and sold WLFI tokens to investors before they could be traded. Market trading began in September 2025.
The project also issues the USD1 stablecoin. A company linked to the Trump family holds a significant share of the tokens and receives part of the project's revenue.
How World Liberty Financial works
WLFI is a governance token: it grants the right to vote on protocol proposals but not dividends or a share of company profits.
Tokens sold before listing are unlocked in stages defined by vote. The project retains the ability to block addresses, which has already been used against large holders.
What WLFI is used for
- Voting on project governance proposals.
- Speculative trading.
Risks and points of attention
- Political exposure: the price reacts to events involving the US president, and there is public debate over conflicts of interest.
- Tokens concentrated among people and companies linked to the project.
- A token with no economic right to revenue.
- The project can block addresses, and supply unlocks are scheduled.
