What is Bitget Token?
BGB launched in 2021 as Bitget's platform token. Holders get fee discounts, access to new token launches and other benefits on the company's exchange and wallet.
In 2025, Bitget announced the transfer of most of the tokens it held to the foundation of Morph, an Ethereum layer-2 network, and BGB became that network's fee and governance asset.
How Bitget Token works
On the exchange, benefits depend on the BGB balance and are set by the company. On Morph, the token pays transaction fees and grants a vote in network decisions.
Supply is reduced through burns. In 2024 and 2025 a large share of tokens was destroyed, and there is a periodic burn mechanism tied to network activity.
What BGB is used for
- Fee discounts and benefits on Bitget and Bitget Wallet.
- Access to new token offerings on the exchange.
- Paying fees and governance on the Morph network.
Risks and points of attention
- Dependence on Bitget and on adoption of the Morph network, which is still small.
- Benefits and burn rules can be changed.
- Liquidity concentrated on the exchange itself.
- Product availability varies by country.
