What is Falcon USD?

USDf was launched in 2025 by Falcon Finance. Like other synthetic dollars, it aims to be worth 1 dollar without holding its backing in bank accounts: users deposit stablecoins or crypto assets and receive USDf.

Users who lock USDf in the protocol receive sUSDf, a version whose value grows with the results of the yield strategies.

How Falcon USD works

Stablecoin deposits generate USDf at a 1-to-1 rate. Deposits of volatile assets such as bitcoin and ether require collateral above the amount issued.

sUSDf yield comes from market strategies run by the protocol, such as funding rate and cross-exchange arbitrage. The project publishes a reserves dashboard and verification reports.

What USDF is used for

  • Dollar reserve with variable yield through sUSDf.
  • Collateral and liquidity in decentralized finance.

Risks and points of attention

  • It is not backed by dollars in a bank: the peg depends on collateral value and on strategy execution.
  • USDf traded below 1 dollar in 2025 amid doubts about the composition of its reserves.
  • Counterparty risk at the exchanges and custodians used by the protocol.
  • A recent project tied to a trading firm, which calls for attention to transparency.
