What is TRON?
TRON was founded by Justin Sun in 2017. The TRX token started on Ethereum and migrated to the project's own blockchain in 2018.
The network runs smart contracts and has become one of the main rails for stablecoins, especially USDT, used for remittances and payments in emerging markets.
How TRON works
The network uses delegated proof of stake: TRX holders vote for 27 representatives, who take turns producing blocks. The model delivers speed and low cost with a small number of validators.
Instead of only paying fees, users consume two resources, bandwidth and energy, which can be obtained by staking TRX. Without those resources, the network burns TRX to process the transaction.
What TRX is used for
- Paying fees and obtaining resources to transact on the network.
- Stablecoin transfers, mainly USDT.
- Staking and voting for the representatives that validate the network.
- Decentralized finance applications in the ecosystem.
Risks and points of attention
- Centralization: only 27 representatives produce blocks, and the founder has great influence over the ecosystem.
- Regulatory exposure: the founder and companies tied to the project have been the target of actions by authorities.
- Use of the network in scams and illicit stablecoin transfers, which can lead the issuer to freeze funds.
- Volatility typical of crypto assets.

Frequently asked questions about TRON
Why do so many people send USDT over TRON?
Because transfers are usually fast and cheaper than on the Ethereum main network. Even so, you need TRX or network resources to pay for the transfer.
Do I need TRX to transfer USDT on TRON?
Yes. The transaction cost is paid in TRX or with the energy and bandwidth resources obtained by staking. Without a TRX balance, the transfer fails.
Does TRX have a maximum supply?
There is no fixed cap. The network issues TRX as block rewards and burns tokens through fees, so supply can grow or shrink depending on usage.
