Fees and networks: how to send crypto without getting lost in the details
The fee paid and the route used by a token depend on the network. Confirming both prevents one of the most common beginner mistakes.
A fee is not merely an exchange detail
In many transfers, the fee pays the network that processes the transaction. It can vary with demand and is usually paid in that network's native asset. Receiving a token in a wallet does not guarantee that there will be enough native balance to move it later.
The same name can exist on different networks
A token can circulate on more than one network. The asset ticker is not enough: sender and recipient must agree on the selected network. Read the platform notice and do not assume a transfer will be converted automatically.
A simple rule
When using a destination or network for the first time, send a small test. Wait for confirmation, then make a larger transfer only after the route works as expected.
