Watch whether users and applications are active, whether layer-2 networks show meaningful cost or capacity changes, and whether wallet and exchange notices come from official channels. Each signal needs a time frame and a source.
What holders should avoid
Holding ETH does not require a conversion because of a protocol upgrade. Messages asking for a recovery phrase, a signature or a transfer to “update” funds are scams.
